Kris Boyson once attempted suicide by running into an oncoming car

Kris Boyson has shared a harrowing story about how he once attempted suicide.

Katie Price 's boyfriend says he was in such a dark place that he thought the only way to end his pain was by taking his own life by running into oncoming traffic.

The personal trainer was suffering from such bad anxiety at the time that it forced him out of a job and left him plagued with feelings of "ominous doom".

Kris says that it's only thanks to his cousin that he's still here.

He told New! magazine: "I was in a nightmare. The only thing I could do to get out of the nightmare - and I’ve only ever told my parents and a couple of close friends this - was run into the road into an oncoming car.

"That was rock bottom. I thought it would end the pain. Thankfully my cousin intervened to stop me.

"I wasn’t thinking about suicide, I just didn’t want to feel how I felt any more. I wanted the pain to stop."

Kris, 30, went on to say that mum-of-five Katie, 40, has also faced struggles, but feels that she can't "show any weakness".

He said his girlfriend is the prime example of someone who "suffers in silence", but that she's not as tough as she appears to be.

He added: "People think she’s tough as nails and she plays up to that because it’s her coping mechanism. If she shows any weakness she’ll get eaten alive."

Kris revealed he'd battled with depression from the age of 21.

He decided to open up about his struggles following the tragic death of Love Island star Mike Thalassitis, who took his own life at the age of 26.

Kris says that while he didn't know Mike, his death was a "wake-up call" that should be telling people they need to speak about mental health and realise "it's okay to not be okay".

After running into the road, Kris says his parents took him to see a psychiatrist and that he was given antidepressants.

Exercise and becoming a personal trainer put his life back on track.
