Kris Boyd to retire as Kilmarnock and Rangers legend brings curtain down on storied career

Kris Boyd is set to announce his retirement after a goal-laden 18-year career.

The frontman - the all-time top scorer in the SPL era - will hang up the boots after helping Killie back into Europe for the first time since 2001.

Boyd hit over 300 goals in a career that took him from Kilmarnock to Rangers, Middlesbrough, Eskisehirspor and Portland Timbers.

He then signed for both Killie and Rangers for a second time before spending the last four years in a third spell at Rugby Park.

The former Scotland striker also netted seven times for his country and won 18 caps.

But it's his goals for Killie and Rangers that stick out from a storied career.

The Ibrox hero won two SPL titles in 2009 and 2010, two Scottish Cups in 2008 and 2009 and two League Cups in 2008 and 2010

According to the Sun , new Killie boss Angelo Alessio was keen to keep Boyd at Rugby Park.

But the striker will resist any temptation to turn to coaching instead concentrating on his media career.
