Kris Boyd riled by question about Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor

Kris Boyd was left incensed after being asked if Callum McGregor is world class.

The Celtic midfielder is in the running to be crowned Scotland’s Player of the Year although he faces stiff competition from the likes of Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos and Hoops team-mate James Forrest.

McGregor has enjoyed another fine campaign, netting three times while providing eight assists in 31 league games.

Still, it led to the slightly hyperbolic question from Sky Sports who asked pundit Boyd if the 25-year-old belongs in the elite bracket of world football.

And it prompted an incredulous response from the Kilmarnock striker who bizarrely claimed there are only two players worthy of that status.

Boyd said: “The term of world-class annoys the life out of me.

“There are two world-class players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

"To compare anybody with them is just crazy.”
