Kris Boyd rejects Celtic financial muscle advantage as pundit points to 'very difficult situation'

Kris Boyd knows all about Celtic's financial muscle as the richest team in Scotland but he feels there's nobody at the club you'd trust to spend the cash.

The Hoops parted ways with Neil Lennon this morning after the Quadruple treble winning boss resigned following the defeat to Ross County in Dingwall.

With new chief executive Dominic McKay coming in as well as a new boss, a major rebuild looks set to get under way.

But former Rangers and Kilmarnock man Boyd reckons the poor recruitment the club did at the start of this season suggests they have serious problems.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “Looking at Celtic’s squad right now, we all know the financial muscle they have, but I don’t think any of the goalkeepers are up to it.

“And then looking at the backline, there are so many players there that will probably move on.

“When you look at the whole process and structure of what’s going on at Celtic – when you see the money that has been wasted on transfers already – and then you say, 'Go and recruit 10 or 12 players', I don’t think I would trust anybody to go and spend the money.

“I think Celtic are in a very difficult situation right now.

"It’s all well and good having money, but they’ve spent it on players that have not, so far, shown that they are up to it.”
