Kris Boyd raises Rangers 'dilemma' as he predicts Steven Gerrard's agonising Celtic call

Former Rangers star Kris Boyd reckons Steven Gerrard faces a monumental midfield decision ahead of his side's showdown with rivals Celtic.

The Premiership champions don't have their own problems to seek with Ryan Christie ruled out and Odsonne Edouard a major doubt for the clash on October 17.

That could help Rangers earn a second consecutive win at Parkhead but the pundit is convinced Gerrard will also have plenty to ponder in the heart of his team when it comes to his team selection.

And Boyd reckons deciding between keeping the impressive trio of Scott Arfield, Glen Kamara and Steven Davis in place or reintroducing Ryan Jack after his appearance against Ross County will be the Ibrox manager's biggest call.

Speaking on the Sky Sports podcast, he said: "When you've got someone like Steven Gerrard looking at midfielders, that's when you're going to be scrutinized, because he knows the position inside out.

"There is no doubt, if Zungu is going to come in and play then he's going to have to show something different from the other guys.

"That's where Rangers have been really strong.

"We've been speaking about Celtic having a striking dilemma, of who they go with, but Rangers have a midfield dilemma now.

"You look at Arfield, Davis and Kamara and the way they've played over the last few games, Ryan Jack was back playing at the weekend.

"Steven's got a few decisions to make now ahead of the first Old Firm game of the season."
