Kris Boyd owes Celtic star Leigh Griffiths an apology - Back Page Football Show

The Premiership has only been back five minutes but already controversy is reigning once more.

Kris Boyd's criticism of Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has, in turn, been widely criticised by fans and fellow pundits.

Record Sport exclusively revealed on Friday that Celtic had been inundated with complaints about the former Rangers and Kilmarnock star's pop at Griffiths.

The Hoops frontman bagged his second goal in two games before aiming his celebration at Boyd in the Rugby Park media gantry.

He responded by questioning Griffiths' professionalism, mistakenly claiming the Scotland frontman had only managed 34 appearances in 135 league games.

Griffiths' appearances have been limited by his battle with mental health issues and Boyd's comments have sparked anger.

On the latest Back Page Football Show, Jonny McFarlane was joined by Michael Gannon and Liam Bryce to break down the big topics.

Also on the agenda was, of course, the transfer window.

Hearts have made a move to sign Liam Boyce as Daniel Stendel bids to add the firepower that can save their season.

The striker has a proven track record in Scottish football and could prove the difference for the struggling Jambos.
