Kris Boyd outlines the biggest dilemma facing Rangers boss Steven Gerrard ahead of Celtic showdown

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has outlined the biggest dilemma facing Steven Gerrard ahead of next weekend's Old Firm match.

Boyd reckons the Ibrox boss has a really tough decision to make in the midfield area given the options at his disposal.

Ryan Jack and Joe Aribo both started the season well for Rangers, but injuries forced them out the side and allowed a trio of Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield to thrive in recent matches.

Jack is now back from injury, Aribo isn't thought to be too far away, and new signing Bongani Zungu has arrived to provide added competition.

Boyd reckons choosing a starting three isn't going to be easy a week on Saturday, and Gerrard has a few decisions to make.

He said on the Sky Sports Scottish football podcast : "When you've got someone like Steven Gerrard looking at midfielders, that's when you're going to be scrutinized, because he knows the position inside out.

"There is no doubt, if Zungu is going to come in and play then he's going to have to show something different from the other guys.

"That's where Rangers have been really strong.

"We've been speaking about Celtic having a striking dilemma, of who they go with, but Rangers have a midfield dilemma now.

"You look at Arfield, Davis and Kamara and the way they've played over the last few games, Ryan Jack was back playing at the weekend.

"Steven's got a few decisions to make now ahead of the first Old Firm game of the season."
