Kris Boyd makes Odsonne Edouard Celtic prediction as he backs Frenchman for Player of the Year award

Kris Boyd believes Celtic will be forced to make a decision on Odsonne Edouard on the summer after predicting ‘big, big bids’ for the striker.

The Frenchman took his goal tally to 24 for the season last Wednesday with a double against Motherwell and is Neil Lennon’s key striker.

He expects him to be named Scotland’s Player of the Year at the end of the season but doesn’t believe the Hoops will be able to hold onto him for much longer.

And Boyd believes that keeping Edouard fit is key to Celtic continuing their dominance in Scotland.

The former Rangers striker told Sky Sports: "Odsonne Edouard is an unbelievable talent. You can see that, especially over the last couple of months.

“Will he be up there for player of the year? Yes, there is no doubt about that [because of] his form.

“He can play with anybody. He can play in any league in the world as well.

“I would not be surprised if Celtic have to fight off big, big bids for him come the summer because he is a top player.

"If Celtic are going to keep performing the way they have been, then it is crucial that he stays fit for them.”

Two of Boyd's old sides go up against each other in the Premiership on Wednesday night and the Sky Sports pundit believes any result for Kilmarnock will end Rangers' title hopes.

He added: “Rangers can’t afford any more slip-ups and, especially, going to Kilmarnock on Wednesday night will be a difficult game.

“Kilmarnock have turned the corner a little bit under Alex Dyer, getting another draw at the weekend there and getting a replay.

“The two league performances before that were good, getting six points, so there’s a little bit of a resurgence for Kilmarnock.

"So, it will be a difficult game, it always is for Rangers at Kilmarnock."
