Kris Boyd makes Alex Dyer Kilmarnock contract plea as he lays out consequences of waiting

Kilmarnock need to sort out Alex Dyer ’s future as a matter of urgency according to former striker Kris Boyd.

Dyer was appointed as on deal until the end of the season when he replaced Italian Angelo Alession following the Italian’s dismissal last December.

As reported by Record Sport earlier this month, it’s understood that Killie are keen to offer Dyer the chance to extend his stay in Ayrshire, while continuing to work alongside Steve Clarke as Scotland assistant.

The club had put discussion on hold as the COVID-19 pandemic plunged Scottish football into uncertainty.

But with the season now ended and minds turning towards a plan to get the next campaign up and running when possible, Boyd has urged Killie to get a move on in regards to Dyer’s situation so they can start shaping their squad.

“The biggest thing for me is that we don’t know if Alex Dyer’s going to be there next season,” he told Sky Sports News.

“He’s the manager and I don’t think Kilmarnock have come out and addressed the fans – or anyone – to say that Alex will be in charge next year.

“If you’re having these conversations and players are turning round and asking ‘Are you going to be the manager?’ then it doesn’t start off on a very positive note.

“Kilmarnock really need to sort out the manager’s situation and get some players signed up as well.

“But it’s going to be very difficult in this current market.”
