Jovial Ally McCoist 's claim he couldn't remember losing his cool was met with a barrage of texts from former team-mates and players.
The 59-year-old was asked during a segment on his breakfast show if he can remember an occasion when his fiery side came out, but he could only recall incidents during the heat of training.
But former Rangers striker Kris Boyd – who was managed by McCoist in 2014 and worked under him during his time as Walter Smith 's No.2 – insisted it's not always laughs with the Ibrox icon.
And he was quick on the blower to set the Light Blues legend straight moments after his admission on radio that he was a figure of serenity at all times.
Speaking to talkSPORT, McCoist joked: "I've just this second got a text from Kris Boyd saying 'what about when you cancelled our Christmas night out?'
"He's accused me, well, he's factually correct, that I got the hump somewhere and I said, 'you're not having a Christmas night out'.
"I was Bah Humbug.
"He's always listening. All right Boydy, I'll make it up to you, I'll buy you a pint at the five-a-side night out. How about that?"
That message from Boyd was followed up a string of former team-mates as an amused McCoist admitted maybe he had misjudged his original answer.
