Kris Boyd and Andy Walker Celtic VAR wars on Sky Sports as pundits clash over big Paisley calls

Pundits Kris Boyd and Andy Walker were at odds on the major decisions made by David Dickinson and Andrew Dallas in Celtic's 5-1 thumping of St Mirren.

Two VAR decisions went against Celtic in the first half with Greg Taylor penalised for handball and then a penalty NOT awarded for Charles Dunne's last-man challenge on Kyogo. Celtic did get a spotkick after tech check 10 minutes from time proved Alex Gogic was pulling back Oh Hyeon-gyu.

Boyd was winding up his fellow pundit when he said: "Andrew Dallas had an excellent game – he got all the VAR calls right."

Walker, though, thinks the interventions this season are ruining the game. On the Taylor handball he raged: "A ridiculous decision, look at the position of the referee. He’s looking right at it. He's in the perfect position to see that and I think he calls it right.

"What do you want Greg Taylor to do with his body? What is he, half a yard away from that? "I think it’s a ridiculous decision to have that overturned."

Boy replied with a smile: "The only thing he's missing is a pair of Sondicos! "At the end of the day, Alex Greive is getting on the other side. It’s a penalty kick."

Walker, however, went on the warpath once again and continued his furious blast at the call, fuming: "These are ridiculous decisions. When you see a referee 10 yards away and makes call it’s not a penalty.

"Then you’ve got Andrew Dallas in VAR saying you’ve made a mistake. He made a mistake in the other call as well (referring to the Dunne/Kyogo incident."
