Kris Ajer's Celtic absence explained as John Kennedy reveals reason behind Aberdeen omission

John Kennedy has revealed that a shoulder injury has kept Kris Ajer out of Celtic's squad to face Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

The Parkhead are looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Rangers on Sunday as they crashed out of the Scottish Cup.

Kennedy has made two changes from Sunday as Nir Bitton replaces Ajer and Greg Taylor starts ahead of Diego Laxalt.

The Norwegian hurt his shoulder in the second half against the Ibrox side, but was able to carry on.

And the Celtic interim boss revealed the issue is still bothering him, which is the reason why he is missing from the squad for tonight's Premiership clash against the Dons.

He told BBC Sportsound ahead of kick-off: "He's ok. He hurt his shoulder during the game and managed to get through it.

"For a couple of days, he was a little tender so no need to risk him tonight.

"He's played loads of games this season as well so it gives us a chance to bring Bitton into the team."
