Kris Ajer makes Celtic transfer pledge as defender comments on AC Milan speculation

Celtic defender Kris Ajer insists "I'm not focusing on my future" as he steps up his fitness work during the shutdown.

The Norwegian international has been linked with a move to Italian giants AC Milan, who are keen to sign a long-term partner for Alessio Romagnoli.

However, with football across the continent shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ajer is simply concentrating on maintaining his fitness.

He said: "I have two years left of my contract at Celtic and I am not focusing on my future at all.

"I am not interested in what has been written about me.

"At the moment, I am training hard. I have told the Celtic physical trainer that I want to take big steps during this break period. I run two sessions a day, and I am building up a lot of strength doing that.

"I am lucky enough to have a family in Kristiansand who are very good at keeping fit and I was fortunate I was able to leave Scotland to return home before lockdown."

Ajer has already played 57 games this term for club and country and has amassed a total of 4,984 minutes on the park this season - more than any player in Europe - before the coronavirus crisis put football on hold.
