Kris Ajer in Celtic admission as former defender insists time at Parkhead made his Premier League transition 'easy'

Kristoffer Ajer believes his stint at Celtic prepared him for the challenges of the English Premier League.

The Norwegian spent four years at Parkhead, making over 115 appearances for Celtic and played 16 games in a brief loan spell at Kilmarnock in 2017.

The 23-year-old made the switch to Premier League newcomers Brentford in the summer for £13.5 million, as the Ange Postecoglou rebuild began.

The defender won three Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic, and scored the winning penalty in the Scottish Cup final against Hearts last season to secure the Hoops' quadruple treble.

On his transition to the Premier League, Ajer told Brentford TV: “It has been great.

“I think coming from Celtic, it is quite easy to take that step.

"It is a massive club in Glasgow that is expecting you to win every single game.

“So, it has been easy to adapt to [the Premier League] but also quite challenging with regards to the opposition that you play every weekend.

“So it has been a great learning experience.”
