AC Milan could make a fresh attempt to sign Kris Ajer from Celtic this month, according to reports in Italy.
The centre back has long been linked with the Rossoneri but to date, no offer has been made for the Norwegian.
However, Corriere dello Sport claim that the Serie A outfit may try and use left back Diego Laxalt as a makeweight in order to try and get their man.
A deal for Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan is off after he was ruled out for six weeks, so technical director Paulo Maldini is looking elsewhere.
That’s naturally led to speculation that Ajer is back at the top of their list, although a £20millioon asking price from the Celtic Park club could prove off putting.
However Milan could try and bring the price down by offering Laxalt plus cash,
The Uruguayan is currently on loan to the Scottish Premiership champions, although whether Neil Lennon is keen to extend his stay beyond the summer remains to be seen.
With Greg Taylor also on the books, it may not be a priority position and Celtic would likely want to get full value for Ajer, who is an integral part of starting XI.
