Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov Declines To Comment On Torture Reports

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov attends a news conference in Moscow

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has refrained from providing comments on reports suggesting that the four men accused of carrying out the attack at Moscow's Crocus City concert hall may have been tortured following their apprehension.

When questioned about the visible signs of violence on the accused individuals, including bruises, swollen faces, and bandaged heads covered in blood, Peskov chose not to address the issue directly, stating, 'No, I leave this question unanswered.' He also declined to comment on the claim made by the Islamic State (ISIS) group regarding their involvement in the attack.

During a recent interaction with journalists, Peskov was asked about the absence of any mention of ISIS by officials as a potential perpetrator of the terrorist attack. In response, he explained that the investigation is still ongoing, and no definitive version has been put forward yet, only preliminary data has been discussed.

Regarding the claim of responsibility made by ISIS through the Amaq news agency, Peskov emphasized the need to await information from the official law enforcement agencies handling the case, as the investigation progresses.

It is noteworthy that neither President Vladimir Putin nor other senior Russian officials have acknowledged the claim made by ISIS, which included the release of a video of the attack filmed by one of the perpetrators.
