Kozhikode startup to create 100 jobs during pandemic

KOCHI: In the middle of the Covid pandemic, Codelattice, a startup from Kozhikode, will create more than 100 jobs immediately, all being software developer jobs. The startup has bagged a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) contract to set up a centre of excellence (COE) with a team of ace developers for FreshtoHome, UAE.

“After signing the contract with FreshtoHome last month, we have already started hiring people. We are trying to hire from Kozhikode mainly, just in case they have to work from our office here, however, we are looking [for talent] pan-Kerala also. In case of scarcity of resources, we might look outside Kerala, but preference will always be for Keralites,” said Vijith Sivadasan, CEO of Codelattice.

“In this engagement with FreshtoHome, we are hiring people and sending them over to UAE for onsite work, where they will work from the Dubai office of FreshtoHome. If they prefer to stay back in India, we are looking for provisions for that too,” he said.

According to Sivadasan, Codelattice will hire and train the developers in soft skills and other technology aspects. “After grooming for three months, they will be moved to FreshtoHome. Grooming is our forte, and that is what FreshtoHome will be leveraging on,” he added.

“We also practice inclusiveness in hiring – not only women but also physically challenging people. In fact, Nasscom had mentioned us in 2020 as one of the 17 companies that promote inclusiveness. Others in the list were big companies like Infosys, TCS or Wipro, but we were one of the startups mentioned in that,” Sivadasan said.

At the COE in Dubai, Codelattice will send 100 people, and as the first phase, the startup will be hiring 20 people, groom them and send them to UAE initially. “They are full-stack developers with at least four years of experience and above. We are also looking for architects and scrum masters, and people like that. So, it is an end-toend team we are setting up for FreshtoHome,” Sivadasan said.
