Chelsea were made to battle for victory on Saturday as they edged past Leeds United 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues had initially fallen behind to Marcelo Bielsa’s men but ended up turning the game around through goals from Mason Mount and Jorginho.
Joe Gelhardt looked like he’d struck a late winner for the visitors only to see the Italian midfielder stroke home a penalty in stoppage time.
Thomas Tuchel will hope to continue that form in another home Premier League clash - this time against Everton.
With that being said, football.london takes a look at the latest fitness news after the thrilling clash with Leeds.
Jorginho
The Italy international has been managing a back injury over the past few weeks and was afforded time off for Chelsea’s draw in Russia.
Of course, he returned to the side to score twice against Leeds and is likely to appear versus Everton.
What Tuchel has said: "He sacrificed and gives his best every single day. He spends hours and hours with the physios and medical department to get himself in the best shape possible. It's very nice to have this kind of attitude.”
Expected return date : N/A
Mateo Kovacic
One potential boost ahead of Everton could be the return of Mateo Kovacic.
The Croatian midfielder had previously been ruled out with a training ground injury, with his return to contention being halted by a positive test for Covid-19.
His period of self-isolation is set to come to an end ahead of the clash with the Toffees but it remains to be seen whether he will come straight back into the side.
What Tuchel has said: “In Germany we knock on wood and if we don't we have wood we knock on the head, because everybody at the moment is healthy, except for Mateo who tested positive.”
Expected return date: Everton (H) - Thursday, December 16.
N’Golo Kante
Whilst Kovacic could provide the Blues with a useful option ahead of a hectic festive period, they still may be without N’Golo Kante.
The World Cup winner has missed the last three games in all competitions and is yet to return to training. Kante might not be out of action for much longer but it appears unlikely that he will return to the Chelsea lineup against Everton.
What Tuchel has said: “You cannot find a second N'Golo, of course, I am worried but I would be worried if he was just missing for a few days. Now, it is a slightly too long break and we hope he comes back on Tuesday to team training.”
Expected return date: N/A
Trevoh Chalobah
Chalobah is currently restricted to the sidelines with a hamstring injury and has missed the last three games, like Kante.
The early signs appear to suggest that he will not be making his return against Everton.
What Tuchel has said: “Trevoh Chalobah is still out, Mateo Kovacic obviously out for tomorrow, N'Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell.”
Expected return date: N/A
Ben Chilwell
Another to have had an exhilarating season cut short, Chilwell looks set to be out for some time yet with the knee injury suffered in the Champions League victory against Juventus.
The defender won’t likely be seen until after the New Year as he continues his recovery.
What Tuchel has said: “Trevoh Chalobah is still out, Mateo Kovacic obviously out for tomorrow, N'Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell.”
Expected return date: N/A
