Kourtney Kardashian’s former nanny has said she is "surprised" the reality star is engaged to Travis Barker.
Blink-182 rocker Travis popped the question over the weekend after less than a year of dating.
The 45-year-old musician got down on one knee during a romantic beach proposal in Montecito, California.
Hundreds of red roses were laid out in a heart shape alongside candles at sunset for the special moment, which will later be shown on the Kardashian family's new reality show on Hulu.
The TV star confirmed the engagement on Instagram sharing pictures of the beachside proposal, which she captioned: "Forever @travisbarker".
But will this be Kourtney’s happy ever after?
Her childhood nanny says tattooed Travis is not the type of man she thought Kourtney would end up with.
Pam Behan told The Sun than when she knew Kourtney, the star liked "pretty, straight-laced" boys – whereas Travis seems a bit of a rebel.
She said: "It kind of does surprise me that Kourtney went for someone like Travis.
"Maybe it's not even that, maybe it's just his personality, maybe it's the way he treats her.
"Whatever it is, she seems happy and that's really all that matters."
Pam started working for the Kardashians in 1991 when Kourtney was 12 years old.
This meant she saw first-hand the struggles the family went through when Kourtney’s parents Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian divorced that same year.
Kris went on to marry Bruce Jenner, who the world now knows as Caitlyn Jenner following her gender transition in 2015.
Pam later wrote about her experiences in the tell-all memoir Malibu Nanny.
She says eldest child Kourtney, now 42, was a "good kid" who always seemed responsible and a good role model for her younger siblings.
Pam added she hoped Kourtney’s union with Travis turns out to be “less drama” than her previous relationship with ex Scott Disick.
"I really hope this is going to be the opposite," she said.
Prior to dating Travis, Kourtney was a relationship with Scott Disick, 38, for nine years and they are parents to three children together.
After meeting at a party in 2006 and immediately hitting it off, the former couple welcomed their first child, Mason, in 2009. This was followed by daughter Penelope in 2012 and son Reign in 2014.
The couple never married and split in 2015, but Scott is reportedly "not happy" about Kourtney's engagement to Travis.
An insider told PEOPLE magazine: "Scott never approved of Kourtney dating Travis. He has struggled with their relationship.
"He always had this idea that he and Kourtney would eventually get back together. He was pretty shocked when he found out that she was dating Travis."
The source added Kourtney was ecstatic about the proposal, adding: "She can't wait to marry Travis. She would also love to have a baby with him."
