Kota: Retired doctor, assistant get 3-year jail in bribery case

KOTA: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Kota sentenced a retired government doctor and his private assistant to three years of jail and imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on each of them for taking bribe for recommending to shift a murder accused undertrial inmate from Kota central jail to the hospital 10 years ago.

The duo was accused of taking a lady wrist watch and a jerkin as bribe. Since the imprisonment period was less than four years, the two convicts were given a chance on bail to appeal against the decision in upper court within a month.

“The ACB court on Friday convicted Dr Ajay Saxena, 62, who was a doctor in Kota central jail and his private assistant Jugraj, 36, to three years’ imprisonment,” said Ashok Joshi, assistant director, prosecution (ADP), ACB court, Kota. The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on each of the two convicts, he added.
