Kostas Tsimikas situation set to change as Liverpool plan confirmed

Liverpool currently have no plans to sell Kostas Tsimikas this summer.

The left-back joined the Reds last summer in an £11.75m deal from Olympiacos, but found his game time limited as the 25-year-old made just seven appearances, with only two coming in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old’s future at Anfield has been the subject of speculation as a result, with reports suggesting a number of European sides are monitoring his situation and could try to tempt him away from Liverpool.

However, the ECHO understands the Reds are pleased by what they’ve seen from the Greece international in training, especially in the second half of last season.

And they have no intention of letting him leave the club at this stage.

Liverpool remain fully committed to the left-back and expect him to feature more prominently next season, with the Reds’ defensive injury crisis last year a large contributor to his lack of game time.

With Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all missing the majority of the season through injury, Jurgen Klopp persisted with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in the full-back positions to avoid further disruption to his backline.

And with the centre-back trio all set to return for pre-season training, along with summer signing Ibrahima Konate, next month, it is believed Tsimikas is well-placed to feature more prominently in his second season on Merseyside.
