Kostas Tsimikas sends bizarre message ahead of Liverpool chance vs FC Midtjylland

Liverpool's Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas could be in line to feature for the Reds in Wednesday's final Champions League group stage match against FC Midtjylland.

Jurgen Klopp 's side have already qualified for the competition's knockout stages as Group D winners and travel to Denmark in search of a fifth victory from six Champions League matches.

Tsimikas is among the squad players hoping for a chance to start in defence for Liverpool, with Klopp struggling amid the club's ongoing injury crisis but also eager to hand his fringe players competitive minutes.

The 24-year-old suggested that he is motivated to make the most of any chance he receives by posting a bizarre message to his Instagram story.

The quote, accompanied by an image of a shark, implies that Tsimikas is determined to continue in his efforts to make his mark on the club.

The defender has played three times for Klopp's side since joining from Olympiakos in the summer for a reported fee of just under £12million.

He featured in both matches against Italian outfit Atalanta after making his competitive debut for Liverpool in September's Carabao Cup victory against Lincoln City.

Klopp spoke highly of Tsimikas following his arrival, praising the 24-year-old as a 'very good footballer'.

"We have watched Kostas for a long time and are really happy that he has joined us," Klopp told the club website. "It’s the perfect news before we come back together very soon.

"He is a very good footballer with an attitude to win and to compete, and I really like his mentality. It fits perfectly with the mood and the desire we have in our dressing room already.

"He has showed already at a young age he can experience football in a different country and do well - and he has been a big part of the success Olympiacos has had to win their title this season and in their European campaigns.

"Kostas knows from personal experience what is required to challenge and succeed domestically and in the Champions League, and he is ambitious for more - just like us."
