Kostas Tsimikas responds to James Milner's foul-mouthed outburst on Liverpool debut

Liverpool full-back Kostas Tsimikas has laughed off the foul-mouthed welcome he received from new team-mate James Milner on his debut.

Tsimikas, snapped up from Olympiakos for £11.75million last month, will provide cover for Andy Robertson at left-back and leave Milner free to play his natural midfield role.

The pair were introduced as half-time substitutes in Liverpool ’s win over Stuttgart in Austria in their first pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Tsimikas impressed - but got an early rocket from his captain who was caught on pitch side microphones shouting “Kostas, f***ing hell” after the new-boy failed to play him in as he looked for a give-and-go on the left flank.

Milner posted a photo from the game on Instagram and addressed the incident, writing: "Wet, boggy... and got caught warmly welcoming Kostas to the team #welcometoliverpool”.

And Tsimikas clearly had no hard feelings as he replied “Thanks bro” along with a laughing emoji and a red heart.

Tsimikas was pleased to get his debut out of the way and opened up on the welcome he has received from his new team-mates.

Asked how he has found his first few days at Liverpool, he said: “Really hard, the sessions, but I have to try a lot to work hard and to be ready.

“Every player here made me welcome. A big thanks, they helped me a lot to do my best on the pitch, to give everything, and all together we hope for the best.”

Discussing his first outing, he told LFC TV: “I feel very good. I’m very happy I did my debut, now I have to work to play more in the league games and I want to be ready for everything.

“It was a good performance. We did what we do all these days in training, what the coach wants, we did in the pitch. We won and now we want to be ready for the final (Community Shield vs Arsenal ) on the 29th.”
