Kosovo manager jokes about the only way to stop Man City star Raheem Sterling

Kosovo manager Bernard Challandes has joked that the only way to stop Raheem Sterling is by breaking his legs, though he also assured that his squad were 'too nice' to take a physical approach.

The Manchester City star is back in contention for England's final Euro 2020 qualifying match against Kosovo, after Gareth Southgate left him out of the drubbing of Montenegro following a clash with Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.

England qualified for next summer's tournament courtesy of that win and will be looking to cap off a successful qualification campaign against Kosovo on Sunday.

Sterling, who has scored eight goals and contributed five assists in six matches, will be key to England's hopes and Challandes is aware that keeping him quiet is a near-impossible task.

“For us it is not good news. It is double bad news because if Sterling plays he is one of the best in his position in the world. Secondly, if I am Sterling I think in this game I must show good behaviour," he told reporters.

"I think if Kosovo play against England and we know exactly the offensive potential, we have no individual answer - it is only collective work.

"Only as a team can we do and can we find a solution. Or we break the leg! But that is not our style, we are too nice – we are a team who are very, very, very nice but it is not a problem if we play together.”
