PATTAYA: A South Korean man found with multiple stab wounds had been attacked by a male compatriot he picked up after visiting an entertainment venue early on Thursday morning, police said.

Investigators identified the suspect only as Park, a 38-year-old South Korean man, based on evidence including surveillance camera footage, a police source said.

Local police and tourist police were watching for him at possible escape routes.

A taxi driver informed police of the attack in South Pattaya on Thursday. He said a heavily bleeding man, identified as Park Jinhyung, 28, stumbled out of the rear seat of a white BMW X5 and signalled for help before collapsing on the road.

Surveillance camera footage revealed the victim visited an entertainment venue and then picked up a compatriot Korean in South Pattaya. He was later attacked.

The injured man sustained 17 stab wounds and was still in a coma at Chon Buri Hospital, and unable to answer questions, the police source said.

Park is a very common South Korean family name.
