The ruling by Korea's constitutional court against key provisions of two proposed government bills concerning media reform has been greeted by several Korean newspapers (see June 28 posting, South Korea government to fund newspapers). An editorial in today's English language Korea Herald is typical of the reaction. It observed: "It is fortunate that we have a conscientious and sensible judiciary to check this wayward administration. It is sad, however, that we have to resort to the court when President Roh and the Uri Party attempt to take the nation on the wrong path." (Via koreaherald.co.kr)
