Korawee gets sec-gen   job at FAT

Korawee Pitsananantakul.

Korawee Pitsananantakul has been appointed secretary-general of the Football Association of Thailand on a permanent basis, FAT president Somyot Poompunmuang said yesterday.

The move was approved by FAT members during the organisation's annual meeting yesterday, according to Pol Gen Somyot.

Korawee was named caretaker secretary-general after Somyot sacked Pisan Jundilok in November.

The FAT boss claimed that a large number of member clubs were not happy with Pisan's performance.

Meanwhile, Somyot said the FAT is likely to bring back the video assistant referee system (VAR) in the second half of the Thai League 1 season this year.

The FAT introduced the system this season but following a number of complaints and Fifa's advice, it was suspended.

Fifa told the FAT that VAR officials must be properly trained.

Somyot said he informed the meeting that the FAT will build the national football training centre on a 150-rai plot in Saraburi donated by the Sports Authority of Thailand.

The venue is expected to be completed in four years, he said.

Somyot said he will seek funds for construction from Fifa.
