
NAKHON RATCHASIMA: The rate of Covid-19 infections in the province has dropped below 100 a day for the first time in three months, with 93 new cases and no deaths reported on Friday.
The provincial communicable disease control committee said the new cases brought the provincial total to 29,030, of which 26,507 have already recovered. Accumulated deaths stood at 218.
A total of 2,305 patients remained in hospitals, with 74 seriously ill and dependent on ventilators.
The new cases were below 100 a day for the first time in three months, the committee said, and the tendency was for the rate of infections to drop.
Nakhon Ratchasima governor Wichian Chantaranothai said his target was to vaccinate at least 70% of people aged 18 years or more There were 2.11 million people in this group.
As of Friday, a total of 1.30 million people in target groups, or 61.74%, had been vaccinated. There were 925,836 people yet to be vaccinated.
As for vaccinations for 12 to 18-year-olds, a total of 144,928 had registered for shots.
Of these, 91,634 had already been jabbed, or 63.23%. Vaccination would be sped up to achieve the 100% target by Oct 31, the governor said.
