Australia have beaten Argentina 3-0 in a hotly contested FIH Pro League contest in Hobart.
Having lost to the South Americans 4-2 in a penalty shootout on Tuesday after it ended 2-2 in regulation, and then 4-2 to Spain on Wednesday, the Kookaburras bounced back for their first win in five matches on Friday afternoon thanks to a blistering start.
Tim Brand found the net, via a deflection off the Argentina keeper's left foot, inside 70 seconds for his 28th international goal for the only score of the first half.
Argentina thought they had levelled through Nicolas Acosta early in the third quarter but it was ruled out after video review.
And salt was rubbed into their wounds when Tom Craig doubled Australia's lead minutes later after a referral went in the home side's favour.
The victory was sealed when a Blake Govers penalty corner was saved and Nathan Ephraums reacted quickest to bundle in a third, for his first goal of the campaign and 23rd in 40 games for his country.
Argentina remain second in the standings, behind leaders Spain, while Australia go above New Zealand and off the bottom in the nine-team tournament.
Colin Batch's side next face Spain again on Saturday at 5pm AEDT.
