ST. LOUIS _ The Cubs snapped a dubious trend Saturday, but a more important skid exists.
The Cubs blew four-run and two-run leads, and Kolten Wong smacked a two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning off Luke Farrell to give the Cardinals an 8-6 win and hand the Cubs their fourth consecutive loss.
Despite home runs by Javier Baez and Anthony Rizzo, the Cardinals tied the game in the ninth inning on a two-run double by Marcell Ozuna.
The winning rally started when Luke Farrell walked Paul DeJong to set up Wong's blast down the right-field line.
Ozuna hit his game-tying double down the left field line off Brandon Morrow, who converted all of his first seven save chances.
The homers by Baez and Rizzo occurred after they blew a four-run lead. The Cardinals took advantage of Tyler Chatwood's wildness and miscues by Rizzo and left fielder Kyle Schwarber to score four times in the fourth.
Baez lined his homer off reliever Ryan Sherriff in the sixth, and Rizzo hit a solo shot down the right-field line in the eighth.
The Cubs' four-run rally in the second snapped a streak that had seen them score three runs or fewer in each of their past nine games.
Schwarber, Addison Russell and Jason Heyward started the rally with singles.
Chatwood appeared to bunt into a fielder's choice, with pitcher Luke Weaver throwing to home plate to nail Russell.
But a replay indicated that Russell's right arm went around catcher Yadier Molina and was able to touch home plate before Molina tagged him, thus giving the Cubs a 2-0 lead.
Ben Zobrist, batting in the leadoff spot for the second consecutive game, and Rizzo followed with RBI singles.
Molina left the game in the ninth after Kris Bryant fouled a 102-mph pitch from Jordan Hicks that hit Molina's mid-section.
