KOLKATA: The driver of a trailer truck died and his helper was critically injured when it rammed into another truck, which was waiting for the signal to turn green, on Kidderpore Road near Hastings crossing in the wee hours of Thursday.
Cops said the deceased, Ashok Yadav (27), a resident of Sick Lines in the port area, might have lost control over the truck and hit the other vehicle at a high speed. The helper, Pintu Kumar (22), hailing from Jharkhand, was admitted to the SSKM Hospital with severe head injuries.
In a separate accident on Thursday morning, three persons, including a nine-year-old, were injured when a car hit an auto near Ruby Hospital on EM Bypass. The injured were Madan Das, driver of the auto involved in the accident and his passengers, Jyotsna Dhali and her child Anu Sana, who had come to the city from Odisha for treatment.
