Kolkata: Scanner on garden at Arpita Mukherjee's Tolly flat

KOLKATA: The fire department wanted to demolish an "illegal construction" in the Diamond City South Complex, Tollygunge that Arpita Mukherjee used as a garden. Residents have complained that the construction is an impediment to fire fighting.

Mukherjee had built the garden over several months, despite objections from several locals, alleged some residents of the complex.

"The vehicle-shed will be dismantled within six months from issuance of this letter," said the order issued by divisional fire officer Saroj Kumar Bag on March 15. In its representation before the HC during a hearing on the fire safety issue, the department did not mention the 2019 findings.
