KOLKATA: A 32-year-old man was arrested for an alleged sexual assault on an eight-year-old girl around 5.30pm on Thursday in the Rabindranagar area near Metiabruz.
The Metiabruz police have identified the accused as Bijay Shaw alias Panchu. A case under the POCSO Act has been registered. Cops said the victim was walking downstairs in her residence when the accused assaulted her.
He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to her family. “The minor’s mother lodged a complaint with us,” said DC (Port), Zafar Ajmal Kidwai.
