Kolkata: Jadavpur University computer science student bags 1.8cr job

KOLKATA: Bisakh Mondal, a fourth-year student of computer science and engineering at Jadavpur University, has bagged a Rs 1.8crore job, the highest pay package this year. Previously, nine JU students from various engineering departments had secured overseas jobs with pay packages exceeding Rs 1 crore.

Mondal, who secured the job with Facebook-London, will fly to his workplace in September. “I got the job offer on Tuesday midnight,” said Mondal, who hails from Rampurhat. He is hoping that his salary will increase by next week as negotiations are on with the companies.

The fourth-year student said his interviews went well as he was well-prepared and had work experience. “The two years during the pandemic gave me ample scope to do internships at various organisations, hone my skills and gather knowledge outside my curriculum studies, which helped me crack the interviews,” added Mondal.

Samita Bhattacharya, placement officer at JU, said: “This is the first time since the pandemic that students have got international offers in such a huge number.”
