KOLKATA: Debanjan Deb, arrested for organizing fake vaccine camps and posing as an IAS officer, has been sent to police custody for investigation in the camp he organized for North City College.
Police have sought their legal team’s nod for imposing attempt to murder charge in this case too, like in the Kasba fake vaccine camp case. Deb will be in police custody till July 23 and his associates till July 16.
“Deb has been charged for attempt to murder in the Kasba fake camp case. By that logic, we should be slapping the same charge for the North City camp,” said an officer.
Police said Deb, who claimed himself to be a KMC joint commissioner, had passed off amikacin sulphate, an antibiotic, as Covishield at the Kasba fake camp. At City College, he had claimed to administer Covishield and Sputnik V. Police have seized Triamcinolone Acetonide (Nadicort) and they are finding out if he had passed off the steroid as Sputnik. Triamcinolone Acetonide (Nadicort) is used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatic disorders.
“We have to question him how he managed to organize the camp and the role of Indrajit Shaw, his employee,” said an officer. Police said they would to file the charge sheet as soon as forensic reports, including that of the vial contents, arrived.
