KOLKATA: Water woes in large parts of Behala are set to come to an end with the KMC water supply department taking up projects to supply potable water from Garden Reach waterworks to ban indiscriminate use of ground water in near future.
After inaugurating a capsule water booster pumping station on Raja Rammohan Roy Road in Behala, mayor Firhad Hakim on Friday said KMC was interested in construction of another such booster pumping station in the vicinity. “We are trying our best to solve the water crisis in large parts of Behala and the Tollygunge-Jadavpur belt. I was told that land was available in Behala for construction of a water booster pumping station. I have asked the water supply department officials to explore possibilities for another project,” said Hakim.
The capsule booster pumping station inaugurated on Friday has a capacity to store 5 lakh litres.
