KOLHAPUR: Most parts of Kolhapur city will face water cuts on Monday and Tuesday as the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation is going to undertake electrical repair work at Shingnapur pumping station.
Water from Panchaganga river is being pumped from Shingnapur and taken to Puikhadi treatment plant where it is treated and then supplied to almost 70% of the city.
Ajay Jadhav, chief hydraulic engineer of the KMC, said, “The state power utility is going to carry out works related to the transformer from where electricity is supplied to the pumping station. Due to this the pumping station will remain shut. We have arranged additional tankers to supply water to citizens from affected areas. Also, the citizens must ensure that they use the water judiciously.”
Along with the A and B wards, residents from fringe rural areas too will face water cuts. Civic officials have claimed that supply will resume at low pressure from Wednesday onwards.
