Kolhapur: Panchaganga river rises 2ft in 24 hours

KOLHAPUR: The Panchganga river level in Kolhapur district increased by two feet in just 24 hours following incessant rain in the ghat areas and light to moderate rainfall in the free catchment areas of the waterbody.

On Sunday, the river attained a level of 15 feet at Rajaram barrage near Kasba Bawda in Kolhapur city. The level was 13 feet on Saturday. The flood alert level at Rajaram barrage is 39 feet, while the danger mark is 43 feet.

Of the six barrages along the river in Kolhapur district, the Rui barrage in Hatkanangle tehsil is submerged at present. At the Rui barrage, the water level was recorded at 42 feet.
