Kodanad heist cum murder case: VK Sasikala faced over 150 questions in two-day inquiry

CHENNAI: The two-day questioning of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's confidante V K Sasikala at her residence in T Nagar in connection with Kodanad heist cum murder case concluded on Friday.

A team of police, led by IG West zone, R Sudhakar, reached her residence at 10am and continued questioning till 2 pm. The team started the questioning on Wednesday morning.

Sasikala faced more than 150 questions pertaining to the documents and valuables missing from the house. Police sources said she cooperated during the questioning and disclosed a lot of information. Sasikala was questioned in a separate room where all the proceedings were recorded and videographed.

Sasikala was in prison when the heist and murder took place.

Later, her advocate N Raja Senthoor Pandian told the media that till date Sasikala had not visited the Kodanad estate as she did not want to disturb the investigations.

On April 23, 2017, a gang of 11 people, led by Kanakaraj, broke into the estate and killed a guard, Om Bahadur, while another guard Krishna Thapa was beaten up and tied. Five days after the heist, Kanagaraj, the main accused, was killed in a road accident on Salem-Chennai highway in Attur. Another accused, Sayan from Kerala, also met with an accident the same day. While he escaped with injuries, his wife and daughter were killed in the accident. Sayan was the second accused in the case. On July 3, 2017, the computer operator of the Kodanad estate, Dinesh Kumar, was found dead in his home.
