Rapper Kodak Black visited Marjory Stoneman Douglas High on the third anniversary of the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.
Attending a memorial to honour the 17 victims who died during the deadly 2018 shooting, the Florida-born rapper established a $100k scholarship in student Meadow Pollack's name (according to his lawyer Bradford Cohen, Black was Pollack's favourite recording artist).
The scholarship fund is for students who want to study justice reform at the Nova Southeastern University Law School, which Pollack's brother, Hunter, currently attends.
Since having his sentence for firearms offences commuted by former President Donald Trump, Kodak Black has been involved in a number of charitable activities.
Last week, the rapper offered to pay the college tuition of the children of two recently slain FBI agents, Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger, who were fatally shot while serving a search warrant in Sunrise, Florida.
Black reportedly offered to cover the future educational costs of the officers' children because he “knows what it’s like to lose loved ones and grow up in a single-parent home, and he wants to make sure the mourning families don’t ever have to worry about sending their kids to college,” according to TMZ.
“I want to thank [Trump] for his commitment to justice reform and shortening my sentence,” tweeted the 23-year-old Black, born Dieuson Octave, in January. “I also want to thank everyone for their support and love. It means more than you will ever know. I want to continue giving back, learning and growing.”
