Kodagu & Madikeri witness heavy rainfall, Srikaneshwara temple partially submerged

MYSURU: Bathing ghat of famous Srikaneshwara temple in Nanjangud was submerged in Kapila river floodwater on Saturday morning after 30,000 cusecs of water was released from Kabini dam in HD Kote.

According to the authorities, if the outflow from the dam increases to 50,000 cusecs, Kabini downstream may face a flood situation.

Inflow to the Kabini dam was 26,100 cusecs at 6am on Saturday. It increased to 28,060 cusecs by 9am. About 30,000 cusecs of water is now released to the river from the dam.

Meanwhile, there has been no rain in Mysuru city since Friday night. It was a sunny morning in the city.

Rain decreased in Shivamogga, Hassan, and Chikkamagalur districts also.

On Saturday, most parts of the Shivamogga didn’t receive any rainfall.

Kodagu, Madikeri received heavy rainfall.

However, the intensity of rain has come down in other places.

Inflow in the river Cauvery continues to rise.
