KOCHI: St Teresa’s College, one of the oldest women’s colleges in the state, which is going to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025, began the celebration programmes on Thursday, flagging off the countdown to the centenary.
Announcing various academic and non-academic developmental activities, the logo and tagline of the centenary celebration were unveiled at a function held on the college campus on Thursday.
Higher education minister R Bindu launched the logo and Kerala University of Digital Sciences vice-chancellor Saji Gopinath released the centenary video.
Named after St Teresa of Avila, a 16th century saint, the college was established on June 15, 1925. The institution was accredited with A++ grade by NAAC and ranked 45th by NIRF in 2021.
Manager of the college Vinitha said that the college has a strategic development plan for the next 10 years, that includes institution development plans which embodies all academic initiatives to raise the benchmark of education, establishing the Teresian Signature Outreach Centre emphasizing women’s health and fitness and women’s livelihood initiatives and the festivities and celebrations for the Centenary Year 2024-25.
During the event, minister Bindu said the government is planning to revise the higher education curriculum in the state. “An amount of Rs 1,000 crore has been earmarked for various projects in the education sector,” she said.
