KOCHI: City police on Thursday busted a gang which used to peddle narcotic substances among youth. Police said the accused were nabbed from a rented apartment at Millupady in Thrikkakara.
Police arrested three persons who were allegedly involved in peddling of narcotics and four others who were reportedly there to procure the contraband from the gang.
City police in a statement said that among the arrested persons, Earlin, 25, of Perumbadanna, Jihad, 30, of North Paravoor, Kollam and Anila Raveendran, 29, of Edavattom, Kollam used to procure the contraband from other states and distribute it locally.
Police also apprehended Arun Joseph, 24, of North Paravur, Arjith Angel, 24, of Manakkapady, Ajmal Yusuf, 24, of Thykaad and Ramya Vimal, 23, of North Paravoor who were there to abuse narcotics, police said in the statement.
According to police, one among the accused was a manager at an IT firm. They used to sell the contraband among youths in Ernakulam, Alappuzha and Kollam districts.
Police seized 2.5g of MDMA, an LSD stamp and miniscule quantities of hashish oil and hashish from the gang. The raid was carried out by a joint team of District anti-narcotic special action task force and Thrikkakara police.
