KOCHI: With the schools having reopened, Ernakulam unit of Kerala Infrastructure of Technology and Education (KITE) is revamping its activities and the works of Little KITES clubs in schools.
The activities of KITE was affected by the pandemic over the last two years, when the schools shifted to online medium due to the pandemic.
Besides revamping, KITE also plans to expand the Little KITES network to more schools in the district.
Little KITES is an unique initiative of KITE, which features over 1 lakh student members, through which students are given training in five areas — animation, cyber safety, Malayalam computing, hardware and electronics.
Swapna J Nair, district coordinator (Ernakulam), said that the sub-district level camps of Little KITES clubs in the district have been completed and around 100 students who performed better in these camps will be participating in the district camp, scheduled to be held in mid-July. The camp will be focusing on animation, gaming, robotics etc.
“The training sessions for the students will be broadcasted via Victers. The classes will be taken experts in respective topics. We have already invited the applications from various schools to create fresh batch of Little KITES clubs and the members will be students of the Class VIII. We will be conducting an aptitude test among the students and they will be selected to the club based on their performance,” Swapna said.
