A woman has fronted court after becoming the fourth person charged with murder over the death of Ballarat woman Kobie Parfitt.

Ms Parfitt, 43, went missing in April last year, and after police made a public appeal for information, they found her remains down a mine shaft at Snake Valley, near Ballarat, in December.

Mount Clear woman Renee Reynolds, 31, appeared via video link in the Ballarat Magistrates' Court this morning and did not apply for bail.

It is alleged Ms Parfitt was murdered on April 28 last year, the same day she was last seen alive at a property in Hickman Street, Ballarat.

Wendouree man Brendan Prestage, 35, was charged with murder on December 30 and has been remanded in custody.

Shannon Jeffrey, 32, was charged in January, and Jacob Ford, 35, was charged earlier this month.

All three are due to face court again in May, while Ms Reynolds is due to return to court at a date to be determined.

Police previously revealed Ms Parfitt had been estranged from her family for a number of years before her death.

"They want the answers as to what happened to Kobie," Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said at the time.

"They loved their daughter, there's four kids that love their mother as well."
