Kobe' Bryant's widow Vanessa has hit back at Evan Rachel Wood for a "vile" tweet labelling her late husband a "rapist".
Actress Evan sent the tweet in question shortly after Kobe's death alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others in a fiery helicopter crash last year.
The Westworld star wrote: "What has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobe's family.
"He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously."
Vanessa did not see the January 2020 tweet at the time, but addressed it on Saturday more than a year later.
"This just came to my attention," she wrote in her post, in which she also tagged the actress.
"Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least."
She then added: "Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn't commit. An accusation doesn't make someone guilty."
And Vanessa, who has three surviving daughters with her late husband, finished: "YOU DON'T KNOW THE FACTS OF THE CASE."
Evan's tweet drew ire when first posted. The "rapist" remark is thought to allude to a 2003 sexual assault case.
The case involving Kobe and an unidentified female accuser was later dismissed.
Wood responded to the backlash at the time, claiming in a follow up that her post was "not a condemnation or a celebration" of Kobe.
She said her tweet should act as "a reminder that everyone will have different feelings and there is room for us all to grieve together instead of fighting. Everyone has lost.
"Everyone will be triggered, so please show kindness and respect to all."
She later deleted the tweets.
Vanessa also responded to film producer Abigail Disney, the granddaughter of Roy O. Disney, who co-founded The Walt Disney Company with her great-uncle Walt Disney.
Disney had tweeted after Kobe's death: "The man was a rapist. Deal with it."
