Kobe Bryant's grieving mother seen for first time since son and granddaughter's horrific deaths

Kobe Bryant 's devastated mother Pamela has been seen for the first time since her legendary son and granddaughter Gianna Bryant tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash.

Pamela, 65, looked somber as she stepped out of her Las Vegas home just days after the heartbreaking accident claimed the lives of nine passengers, including her sports superstar son and talented granddaughter.

The grief-stricken mother, who had not left her home since the family tragedy that rocked the world, ran errands on Friday morning.

The 65-year-old dressed in mostly black and kept a stoic face as she stocked up on food shopping before heading home.

In photos obtained by the Daily Mail , Pamela appeared forlorn as she headed to a nearby Target store and visited a beauty salon as she made her first public appearance.

A neighbour reportedly told the publication: "They are just devastated, as you can imagine. It's a private, awful moment, losing their son and grand-daughter.

"It's just horrific... their lives were turned upside down."

Insisting the Bryant family need "their peace", the neighbour branded the tragedy as an 'awful' and 'horrific' incident.

Earlier this week, Kobe's father Joe, 65, was seen for the first time as he opened their front door to receive a bouquet of yellow flowers.

Kobe was thought to have a troubled relationship with his parents, after they attempted to sell off his high school and Lakers memorabilia, and their initial disapproval of his wife Vanessa Bryant.

The basketball star reportedly filed a suit against the auction house but his parents successfully auctioned six items, earning themselves $500,000 from his belongings.

NBA legend Kobe and his 13-year-old girl Gigi were among nine people who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash in foggy conditions over Calabasas, California last Sunday.

Pamela's appearance comes just hours before Hollywood stars, Lakers fans and players gathered at a pre-game ceremony to pay an emotional tribute to the basketball legend.

The Los Angeles Lakers returned to the Staples Center for their first basketball game since the tragedy.

Usher performed a powerful rendition of Amazing Grace, Boyz II Men sang the Star-Spangled Banner and LeBron James gave a powerful speech in a series of inspiring tributes to celebrate the life of the legendary player.

During halftime, Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa performed their hit track See You Again.

Red roses adorned the courtside seats where Kobe and Gianna sat at the last game they attended.

Kobe's widow Vanessa, 47, posted an Instagram picture of the chairs in the stadium covered in flowers and draped with Bryant's No.24 Laker jersey and Gianna's No.2 Mamba jersey.

She shared a touching caption as she wrote: "There is no #24 without #2."

Kobe died alongside 13-year-old daughter Gianna, along with pilot Ara Zobayan, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, John Altobelli, his wife Keri Altobelli and their daughter, Alyssa Altobelli.

Kobe Bryant believed his daughter Gianna was "destined for greatness" and thought she would be the one to carry on his legacy.

Earlier this week, Vanessa broke her silence after the loss of Kobe and Gianna with an emotional outpouring on Instagram.

Vanessa said she "can't describe the pain right now," but paid thanks to "the millions of people" who have shown their support following her double tragic loss.

She wrote: "We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe - the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna - a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri."
