Kobe Bryant believes Dwight Howard is ‘ready’ for Lakers second chance

Although Los Angeles Lakers fans themselves are probably a little less bullish on the return of Dwight Howard, the player he was pitted against the most during his disappointing previous one-year run with the Lakers believes the second time around can be better.

Yes, Kobe Bryant recently gave his own view on Dwight Howard’s return to the Lakers during a recent television appearance. He was a guest on the CBS morning show “The Talk,” where he was surprisingly asked about how Howard will fare during his second chance as a Laker.

(h/t NBA Reddit)

“I think he’s ready for this next time around to do whatever is necessary to help this team be successful,” Bryant said during the talk show. “I think he’ll do it.”

As has been covered both here and everywhere, Howard is in a much different place in his career in 2019 than he was in 2012. He’s coming off a season in which he barely played and was discarded at midseason, with basically nobody knocking down his door to sign him until the Lakers did, only after a devastating injury to DeMarcus Cousins.

However, Howard could prove to be a vital piece of the Lakers season if he’s able to stay healthy and doesn’t worry about how many post touches he gets. If he’s able to simply stay on the floor and do the little things, points, statistics and accolades may once again come Howard’s way.
