Knowsley Safari Park website crashes as more areas reopen

Demand for tickets crashed Knowsley Safari’s website yesterday after the family attraction announced more tickets were being made available.

The safari experience reopened in June after being given the green light from Prime Minister Boris Johnson after months of closure.

In an update to customers yesterday, Knowsley Safari announced that tickets had been released for July 18 to 31, and confirmed that several other areas of the park had now reopened.

Included in the reopenings are Wolf Country, which has been partially closed since the park opened in June and features wolf pups.

Also now open are several areas along the Foot Safari, including a few of the park’s amusement rides, the Boating Lake, play area, the Birds of Prey displays and the Oasis Restaurant.

The areas are all being closely monitored for social distancing and are subject to enhanced cleaning measures.

The news had fans rushing to scoop up tickets, leading to the Knowsley Safari website crashing last night.

Since booking is essential, fans wanting to plan ahead had quickly tried to get their ideal date, but the extra traffic to the site meant nobody could get tickets.

In an email to customers last night, Knowsley Safari wrote: “Booking system reopening tomorrow.

“We're sorry, the volume of traffic to our booking site has crashed our system (or it's those pesky gremlins again). We'll have this up and running again for you tomorrow.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Knowsley Safari’s booking system is now live again, with dates available throughout the end of July.
