Knowsley Safari Park announces reopening date - how to get tickets and the new rules

It seems like a very long time since Knowsley Safari Park had its gates open for visitors to enjoy.

But from June 15, zoos and safari parks will be able to reopen as the lockdown measures in England are eased a little more.

The opening of outdoor attractions has been much welcomed as company's worried about whether they would be able to allow customers to visit once more due to economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

But now outdoor attractions, such as those where people stay in their cars, are allowed to reopen given the low risk of coronavirus transmission - which includes Knowsley Safari Park who have confirmed they will be open from Monday.

The zoo said tickets will be available from the website from Friday June 12.

It is likely many will be eager to show their support to the safari park as well as finally enjoy a family day out but there are some special measures in place to keep everyone safe and things running as smoothly as possible.

First, ALL visitors, including members and NHS staff who are admitted for free, need to pick a time slot and book your tickets online prior to arrival.

Customers are then asked to arrive within their allocated time slot and at the arrival kiosks, which have been fitted with new hygiene screens, visitors will be asked to read out their booking reference number.

The one way systems must be used when indicated and visitors are encouraged to used the park's hygiene stations to sanitise their hands.

Number of visitors at any one time have been limited to allow for social-distancing and an enjoyable experience.

On the website, the safari park does warn that if you take a drive through the Baboon Jungle, they are unable to return any car parts that the cheeky baboons may take - but the car friendly route is available as always.

Customers are asked to use designated rest spots which have been specifically spaced out two metres apart with individual bins for each picnic bench.

There will also be a queuing system in place for toilet facilities and social distancing will be monitored.

Enhanced hygiene regimes for these facilities will also be in place so visitors are asked to me patients if queues do take a little longer to go down.

Team members will also be wearing a range of PPE, including face masks, disposable gloves and eye protection for everyone's safety.
